Fired Smoky Mountain News reporter Cory Vaillancourt wrote a story about himself in third person in the Asheville Citizen Times, stating he was thrown out of a Michael Whatley Meet and Greet in Waynesville, just because he was a news reporter. The facts are disclosed in this truthful article written by the Waynesville Mountaineer Newspaper. It was a private event by a private citizen, who rented the Waynesville Rec Center's private meeting room A, to invite Michael Whatley to a meet and greet. The citizen had the legal right to uninvite anyone who caused trouble or was a threat. Cory Vaillancourt attacked his wife and there is a police report to prove it, so Vaillancourt wasn't allowed into the meet and greet. This happened before Whatley arrived, so he wasn't turned away by the Whatley campaign or the Republican Party. Then Cory Vaillancourt wrote a fake, made-up story in the Asheville Citizen Times, stating Whatley turned him away, to further his career, because he had been let go from the Smoky Mountain News. The article fails to mention, Vaillancourt came in ready for a fight, was belligerent, sweating, shaking with his eye's bulging out, smelling like alcohol.
